Why molecule of life

The balanced flavonoid composition in the extract of tea plant (Camellia sinensis) and red grapes, vitamin C and vitamin B complex is designed to provide complex effects to the body for various cell and tissue functions. In particular, it is the protection against oxygen radicals that are formed in situations where cells get into stress conditions, so-called oxidative stress.

Oxidative stress is involved in many diseases such as atherosclerosis, Parkinson's disease, heart failure, myocardial infarction, Alzheimer's disease and chronic fatigue syndrome.1

Flavonoids, as important natural antioxidants, help reduce the harmful effects of free radicals.

A sufficient supply of flavonoids in the form of the Matuzalem complex helps maintain the essential function of the cells. That is why we call it the “molecule of life”.

Regular use of Matuzalem provides the body with important antioxidants in the form of a unique complex of flavonoids and vitamin C that help reduce the harmful effects of free radicals.

Free radicals play a prominent role in cardiovascular diseases – the most common cause of death in developed countries. They are also involved in the development of diabetes, some neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease), chronic inflammation, bacterial and viral infections and some types of cancer.2,3


Composition of the Matuzalem complex

The authors of the unique flavonoid complex Matuzalem received an award from the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva. The results of their work in biotechnology have been among the best scientific innovations in 2009 (WIPO AWARD 2009).

The Matuzalem dietary supplement complex contains a combination of several effective flavonoids.

The flavonoids contained in the Matuzalem complex (quercetin, kaempferol, apigenin, rutin, catechin, epicatechin, procyanidin) come from two sources:

  1. Tea plant extract (Camellia sinensis).
  2. Red grape extract (Vitis vinifera).

In addition to flavonoids, Matuzalem contains a vitamin complex of three B vitamins (B2, B6 and B12) and vitamin C. The effects of the flavonoid complex are very well supplemented with the effects of vitamins.

The unique relationship and composition of the Matuzalem extract, which contains several types of flavonoids:

  • flavanols
  • anthocyanidin
  • flavonols
  • flavon

This complex was prepared in a unique extraction way and is therefore absolutely specific and uncopiable.


Antioxidant activity

The number of civilization-diseases related to free radicals is rising in modern society. At the same time, there is an increasing effort to protect the organism from these radicals. The elimination of their effects can be facilitated by higher intake of exogenous antioxidants. Therefore, the tendency to assess the antioxidant properties of pure natural substances, plant extracts and dietary supplements increases.4

The antioxidant activity of substances can be measured in various ways. The ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) method is one of the standard methods that measures the antioxidant capacity of biological samples. The value is expressed as TE (trolox equivalent, trolox is a vitamin E-like substance) per 100 grams or per one gram of biological material.

The ORAC value for the Matuzalem flavonoid complex is more than 1000 micromoles of TE per gram.

The ORAC values ​​for edible fruits with one of the highest flavonoid contents in the plant kingdom are provided for comparison.

Effects of flavonoids in Matuzalem

Flavonoids, which have a common chemical base but are divided into several subgroups, are very powerful natural antioxidants and help act against free radicals.

They provide protection against diseases caused by oxidative stress, regulate the activity of certain enzymes and interact with specific receptors.5

Flavonoids are studied in association with the following diseases:

  • cardiovascular diseases (atherosclerosis)
  • metabolic disorders (diabetes, obesity)
  • neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer´s and Parkinson´s disease)
  • chronicinflammation
  • viral and bacterial infections (e.g., human papillomavirus)
  • cancer

Effects of vitamins in Matuzalem products

Matuzalem contains three types of vitamins B and vitamin C.

Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) is an essential vitamin for the human organism as humans are not able to produce it and must therefore obtain it from external sources.

The source of vitamin B2 is mainly animal products (meat, milk, eggs).

Vitamin B2 is important and essential for heart, eye and skin activity. It has a significant effect on the metabolism of sugars and fats. The vitamin B2 dose contained in one capsule corresponds to about half the recommended daily intake of this vitamin.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is obtained in a variety of foods of plant and animal origin.

Vitamin B6 is essential for the functioning of a variety of enzymes that provide basic life processes. It is really necessary for the functioning of the nervous system, normal function of the immune system and for the protection against infections. One capsule contains about half the recommended daily dose of this vitamin.

Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is an essential vitamin for the production of red blood cells and its deficiency is manifested by anaemia. The main source of this vitamin in the diet is animal products: eggs, milk, cheeses, meat and guts.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid). The human organism is unable to create this important vitamin and it must be received in the diet. It is essential for amino acid metabolism and contributes to the production of collagen. It is a powerful antioxidant. Its deficiency leads to reduced resistance to infections, higher tooth decay incidence, increased fatigue, and bleeding. The main source is potatoes, citrus and other vegetables and fruits. One capsule contains 125% of the recommended daily dose



Local effects on the skin

The flavonoid complex contained in Matuzalem is available as capsules, drops and syrup, as well as body milk, cream and gel for skin application.

The skin is exposed to intense ultraviolet radiation, which converts common chemical molecules into free radicals.

The application of body milk, cream or gel on the skin leads to local protective effects. Flavonoids enter cells of the upper layers of the skin, where they help act against free radicals. Their anti-inflammatory and anti-viral effects can be used here.

The contact of the skin with ultraviolet radiation also damages collagen and elastin fibres, the skin loses pliability and elasticity, it dries out and wrinkles develop.6

The effect of the regular application of a protective layer of flavonoids on the slowing of ageing of the skin is intensively studied.

Complex action

Today's level of knowledge and scientific research clearly shows that flavonoids have a beneficial effect on the human organism. These are some of the most powerful antioxidants we know.

Substances contained in Matuzalem are able to promote normal cell function and to protect the cells from damage of external and internal sources.


Safety and tolerability

Flavonoids are substances of natural plant origin and have a favourable safety profile and tolerability for the human organism. The purpose of their production in plants is especially the protection against external damage, prevention of the effects of toxins and free radicals and regulation of normal activity. They try to keep natural regulatory, detoxication and protection mechanisms in place and replace them if they fail. They generally have good water solubility, so they are easily excreted and do not accumulate in the body. Therefore, the upper recommended dose range is not established as with some water-soluble vitamins.

Doses of individual components in Matuzalem preparations are carefully balanced to meet the body's requirements for flavonoid substances and supplemental vitamins B and vitamin C.

Regular intake of the antioxidant flavonoid complex provides protection against free radicals that play a role in a number of civilization diseases such as cardiovascular, neurodegenerative and metabolic diseases.
